GAUGING CABLEWAYS
- Current-meters used for hydrological surveys are
usually handled through a suspension cable driven
by a hoist, thus allowing flexible and speedy
operation.
In addition to these advantages,
the use of a gauging cableway enables the station
to be located without regard to existing bridges
ans possible recourse to boats.
The Neyrtec trolley-type cableway, controlled
from one of the river banks, ensures safe
operation even in flooding conditions and makes
it easy to place the measuring instrument exactly
at any required point and to plot the
cross-profile of the river bed by measuring the
depth according to a pattern of vertical lines.
|
| Design |
| |
Every Neyrtec cableway consists of the following parts:Fixed
parts
Track cable fastened between the two supports and secured
either to the supports or to anchoring blocks in the
groud.
Two supports consisting of guyed masts or uprights or
brackets depending upon bank configuration and cable span
(with or without ground anchorties).
Moving parts
Crab travelling on the track cable. Cable winch with two
drums, viz one for tow cable to control cross travel, the
other for the suspension cable to control vertical
travel.
Set of pulleys fitted on crab, winch and supports.
The shape and dimensions of the foundations shown on
the diagrams are for guidance only. We can specify the
maximum strains on the supports and anchor points but we
do not supply drawings of the anchor blocks which depend
upon the nature of the ground.

Standard series
cableways |
| |
For stationary installation with non-removable masts
or supports (see diagram). Two options are available:
ref. 2441 C or C1: cableway with complete masts (H = 2 m)
ref. 2441 D or D1: cableway with mast heads and
anchor-ties but no mast bodies (drawing supplied on
request).

Long-span
cableways |
| |
For spans ranging from 200 to 450 m. Provided with
high performance motor-winches, or optionally with
hand-winches. Additional data on request. |

| Cables
|
| |
As cable lengths depend on span, cables are not
supplied under the cableway reference and must be
specified separately. Neyrtec can also supply a
cable-puller of 25 kN capacity to set the track cable.
The tow cable is of stainless 18/8 chronmium steel,
superflexible type, 3 mm in diameter; weight: 33 g/m;
breaking load 5300 N. Il is suitable for any cableway
series.
For electric suspension cables and two-drum winches,
please refer to leaflets M 241 "Torpedo Sinker"
and M 242 "Hand-winches", respectively.

Gauging
stations |
| |
Neyrtec can supply complete equipment for gauging
stations including all measuring devices ans ancillaries.
Refer to leaflets M 60.22 and M 60.23, "Level
Gauging of Rivers, Canals and Reservoirs". |
