| The angular position of limnigraph or limnimeter
transmission shaft is measured by a 2 pole incremental
encoder made up of magnets moving in front of reed
switches. Signals stemming from the incremental
encoder are exploited by a microprocessor which has the
following functions:
transition detection on incremental encoder which
causes change from «stand by» state to «operative»
state. absolute position calculation. level calculation
with scale reset. numerical filtering of measurements.
compaction of measurements. storage control of compacted
measurements in a protected RAM memory. ontrole of
time-of-day clock (calendar). display and keybord control
for local operator dialogue. control of the V 24 / RS 232
C serial numerical communication port. monitoring of the
internal operating state (supply, memory, clock).
Measurement compaction before storage in memory is
accomplished by a linearization algorithm which allows
comparison of the level temporal evolution curve to a
straight line segment series of which spatial ant
temporal coordinates of inclination changes are
memorized.
